Abstract: Juvenile sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus with body weight of (45±5)g and body length (10±1) cm was fed the diets containing methionine selenium at a rate of 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 mg/kg diet at water temperature of 13 ℃ and a salinity of 27 for 60 days to study the impact of selenium methionine on growth and digestive index of the sea cucumber. The results showed that the specific growth rate in body length was shown to be increased from 0.11%/d to 0.34%/d, specific growth rate in body weight increased from 0.18%/d to 0.46%/d, gut mass increased from 1.67 g to 2.21 g, relative gut mass increased from 0.032 3 to 0.037 0, and the viscera-somatic ratio decreased from 0.060 8 to 0.051 7 under the test conditions with the increase in dietary methionine selenium from 0 mg/kg to 1.0 mg/kg. The findings indicate that dietary methionine selenium lead to improve the growth and digestibility of sea cucumber, with better effects at higher dose of dietary methionine selenium within the limit in present study.
