Abstract: Genetic analysis of relative growths ofmultiple bodymorphological traits to body weights or body lengths was conducted in Japanese flounder Paralichthys olivaceus by joint allometric scalingmodel for selective breeding of Japanese flounder. The results showed that heritability in relative growth of morphological traits including body length, head length, length of caudal peduncle, depth of caudal peduncle, and body depth to body weight was found to be changed from 0.251 to 0.755,positive value only between length of caudal peduncle and depth of caudal peduncle in phenotypic correlation, while negative value in other traits. The heritability wasmoderate and most genetic correlations among these allometry scalings were negative in body length allometry except for the maximal heritability(0.871)of caudal peduncle height. The findingsmay provide a theoretical basis for breeding in Japanese flounder.
