Abstract: The toxicity of thiamphenicol [0 (as control group), 50, 150, 250 mg/kg body weight, 5 times as high as toxic dose] to hepatopancreas of Songpu mirror carpCyprinuscarpioSongpu(body weight 82.30 g±13.59 g)was studied at water temperature of (20.0±0.2)℃ by daily oral administration for 15 days. The activities of catalase (CAT), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde content in hepatopancreas were determined and histological observation of the hepatopancreas was conducted 24 h after stopping oral administration. Results showed that the activities of CAT, and SOD were found a trend of first enhancement and then decline, the peak in 50 mg/kg group, and the content of MDA showed a trend of first decline and then enhancement with the increase in thiamphenicol dosage, the minimum in 50 mg/kg group. There was significantly higher MDA content in high doses group than that in the control group. The histological observation showed that the hepatopancreas damage was aggravating with the increase in the drug dosage, indicating that thiamphenicol has certain dose-dependant toxicity, and certain effect on immunity in Songpu mirror carp. So we should pay more attention to thiamphenicol dosage in use.
