Abstract: Single and synergetic effects of heavy metal Cd(Ⅱ)and Cu(Ⅱ)stresson heat shock protein 70 (HSP70)gene expression were studied in lugworm Perinereis aibuhitensis by real-time PCR method to investigate the relationship between heavymetals concentration and HSP70 gene expression in lugworm. The results showed that HSP70 gene expression levels were induced with the elapse of Cu(Ⅱ)exposure at various concentrations of Cu(Ⅱ),with the descendant order of HSP70 gene expression as:22.86μg/L group>44.50μg/L>4.45μg/L in 3 days and with positive relationship between the HSP70 gene expression level and concentration of Cu(Ⅱ)in 7 days and 14 days.HSP70 gene expressionswere shown to be increased with increasing Cd(Ⅱ)concentration and the elapse of single Cd(Ⅱ)exposure, withmore stable fluctuation under Cd(Ⅱ)exposure than under Cu(II)exposure.Under synergetic effects of both Cu(Ⅱ)and Cd(Ⅱ),HSP70 gene expression levels were also increased with the increasing exposure concentration and time, the maximal expression of HSP70 in group 45.70μg/L Cu(Ⅱ)+10μg/LCd(Ⅱ)in 7 days and 14 days, andmuch higher than that in the single Cu(Ⅱ)or Cd(Ⅱ)exposure, indicating that Cu(Ⅱ)combined with Cd(Ⅱ)had synergy effect in a certain extent.
