Abstract: The effects of phenotypic morphometric traits attributes on weight traitswere analyzed in 125 samples of wild clam Dosinia corrugate randomly selected from Zhuanghe,Dalian in November,2013 by correlation analysis, path analysis and regression analysis to ascertain the optimal and measurable indices used in artificial breeding of the clam.The morphometric traits and weight traits were measured including shell length(SL),shell height (SH),shellwidth(SW),distance from apex of shell to shell front part(a),distance from apex of shell to the anterior to shell(b),ligament length(c),live body weight(W),soft body weight(MW)and total body weight (Sw).Itwas found that therewas very significant difference in the correlation coefficient between the various characters in the clam(P<0.01).Shell length(SL)and shell height(SH)showed the predominant direct effect and determinacy on the live body weight(W),soft body weight(MW)and total body weight(Sw)(0.648).The phenotypic traits of characters and the optimal regression equation were established in the clam by stepwise regression method.The findings provide theoretical basis for the breeding and selection breeding of D.corrugate.
