Abstract: The matching of engine and propeller in fishing vessel is an important problem throughout the design, manufacture and use of fishing vessels. There are many optimization and improvement methods for the matching of fishing vessel’s engine and propeller, with many fishing vessels in China. There are still some problems in the matching of engine and propeller in fishing vessels due to the characteristics of multi-working conditions of fishing vessels. If the vessel and propeller do not match, overload will occur, and serious faults such as knocking and pulling cylinder will occur. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the relatively optimized matching scheme of vessel and propeller. This paper reviewes the distribution characteristics of fishing vessels and their working conditions, the development status of fishing vessels' main engine, and the research progress of engine-propeller matching based on multi-working conditions, engine propeller matching integrated design, main engine selection method and propeller design method. In view of the problems existing in the research, it is proposed that the future research on ship-propeller matching of fishing vessels should be developed in the direction of low carbon and economy, intelligent algorithm optimization of fishing vessel engine and propeller matching, adaptation to different working conditions, in order to provide scientific reference for the design of boat engine paddle matching scheme for fishing vessels.
