Abstract: Attraction of different colors (white, red, blue and green) and six illuminance of light to common carp Cyprinus carpio was investigated to elucidate the phototaxis of common carp. The results showed that the attraction of the different colors of light ranged in descendant order as the following: white 〉 red 〉 blue 〉 green. The maximum aggregation rate under white, red, blue, and green light was 61.0%, 45.0%, 42.0% and 27.1%, respectively. There was a significant effect of illuminance on aggregation, but no significant difference between aggregation rate and illumining time.
