Abstract: A 36 day multi - cycle growth experiment refeeding on growth and food utilization in juvenile was carried out to determine the effects of repeating starvation flounder Paralichthys olivaceus with initial weight of (4.21 ± 0.28 )g from May to June,2003. Fish were assigned to one of four treatments:deprived for 2 days and then re -fed for 4 days (S2 F4 ), deprived for 3 days and then re -fed for 6 days (S3 F6 ) , deprived for 4 days and then re -fed for 8 days( S4F8 ) ,or fed for 36 days without deprivation( control group). At the end of the experiment the mean body weight, specific growth rate, food consumption and food efficiency in the group S2F4 were significantly higher than those in the control group. The mean body weight, specific growth rate, food consumption rate, and food efficiency in group S3F6 and food efficiency of group S4F8 were similar to that of the control group. The others of group S4F8 were still significantly lower than that of the control group. After 36 days, there were no significant differences in body biochemical composition among four groups.
