Abstract: The age structure and growth characteristics of Amur ide Leucisuswaleckii were investigated by observation of otoliths in 224 specimens collected in Ganggeng Lake(Gangenore Lake),Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in July (summer)and September (autumn)of 2017.It was found that female Amur ide had body length of 120-264 mm,and body mass of 31.9-367.8 g and the male ones had body length of 100-253 mm and body mass of 16.7-310.9 g.The ages were estimated from 1 year to 7 years in female, and from 1 year to 6 years in males. The body length-body mass relationships were described by W=2.333×10-5L2.973 (R2=0.961,n=120)for females and W=1.220×10-5L3.084 (R2=0.949,n=104)for males. The Von Bertalanffy growth equation showed that the asymptotic length (L∞)was 497.370 mm in female and 415.926 mm in male and that the asymptotic mass (W∞)was 2 427.41 g in female and 1 456.82 g in male in Ganggeng Lake, with growth coefficients (k)of 0.199 in female and 0.270 in male. The theoretical age was -0.216 a in female and -0.149 a in male when body length was equal to zero (t0).The estimated inflexion points were 5.3 a for female and 4.0 a for male, and the corresponding body length was 330.1 mm and 281.0 mm,respectively. The findings suggest that the minimum capture age limits of Amur ide population be 5 years old to sustainably exploit the resources in Ganggeng Lake.
