Identification of F1 progeny of gynogenesis in common carp by RAPD analysis

Abstract: Gynogenetic Jian carp (Cyprinus carpio var. jian)was induced by red crucian carp (Carassius auratus var. red) sperm inactivated by UV- ray and among 241 gynogenefic F1 progeny, 10 were analyzed by RAPD technique with 10 random primers. The results showed that 4 individuals only had the bands of Jian carp and no bands of red cmcian carp, which were fish originated from gynogenesis of Jian carp. The bands both of jian carp and red cmcian carp were found in the rest individuals, which were hybrids originated from the normal sperms because of incomplete inactivation. The study indicated that RAPD technique is useful and practical for the identification between genogenesis fish and hybrid individuals.
