Abstract: Crucian carp (Carassius auratus) was injected with the lectin extracted from sea mustard Undaria pinnatifida as an inductive substance and activities of lysozyme, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) in the lymph were assayed of 7 days and 9 days after administration. The results showed that there were higher activities of lysozyme, SOD and CAT in the fish injected with the lectin than those in the fish in the control group. However, the activity of the lysozyme decreased from 18.83% to 12.69% from 7 days to 9 days after administration, meanwhile the activity of SOD increased from 66.67% to 139.99% and CAT increased from 16.60% to 63.63%, indicating that the lectin can improve nonspecific immunity in crucian carp.
