Abstract: Common carp Cyprinus carpio L. juveniles with body weight of 25.74-33.53 g were fed diets supplemented with L-carnitine at a rate of 0, 50, 100, 200, and 250 mg/kg diet for 60 days. The results showed that the fish fed the diet containing 100 mg/kg feed L-carnitine had less off-flavor than the fish fed the diet without supplementation of L-carnitine. It was found that L-carnitine improved the growth rate, and inhibit the 2 methylisoborneol impact on the fish activity. There were high superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, and low glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (GPT) activity in the fish fed the diet supplemented with the chemical.
