Abstract: Weightlength relationship, and growth variation in 1998, 1999, 2000 year generations, malefemale Prosalanx hyalocranius populations were reported in upper and lower reaches of Shuifeng reservoir. The weigth-length relationship equations of the three generations were: W=3.291×10-6L3.0917 (n=386, r =0.9085),W=7.270×10-7L3.3822(n=564,r=0.9363),W=3.864×10-6L2.9749(n=481, r=0.9354),respectively. The results suggested that
the fish was isometric velocity growth type. Significant difference in average body weight between male and female in the same generations indicated that there were significant differences in only 1999 year generation, which was due to deficient diet and living space followed by generation population increased. There was difference a month between growth amount of specimen in the upper and lower reaches, which was due to that abundant diet and high temperature in upper reaches. The fish population was born later in the lower reaches than in the upper reaches because the cumulative temperature was low for growth.
