The community structure and spatio-temporal pattern of zooplankton in Tanghe Reservoir in 2007

Abstract: The community structure and spatio-temporal pattern of zooplankton were studied in Tanghe Reservoir in 2007. The results showed that 53 zooplankton species were observed, including 14 species of protozoa, accounting for 26.42% of the total species ; 31 species of rotifera, accounting for 58.49 % ; 2 species of cladocera, accounting for 3.77% ; and 6 species of copepoda, accounting for 11.32%. Rotifera was the dominant species composition of the zooplankton, such as Polyarthra trigla and Keratella cochlearis. The annual average density and biomass were found 1 521 ind./L and 1.78Mg/L, the diversity index of zooplankton 0. 484-3. 122, and the biomass were found as the following: downstream〉midstream〉upstream. There was no regularity of biomass vertical distribution of zooplankton in the reservoir, with the higher biomass at the bottom.
