Abstract: Streptococcal disease was broken out in fat greenling Hexagrammos otakii with red tumescent gill filaments in a fish farm in Liaoning,China,on September in 2008.A strain of bacteria ZG0990 was isolated from the brain of diseased fish and was confirmed pathogenic to Japanese flounder by artificial infection experiment.The morphology observation,physiological and biochemical characteristics,16S rRNA sequence test and phylogenetic analysis were employed to confirm the strain ZG0990 as a bacterium Streptococcus iniae with 99.48% reliability.Drugs sensitivity test showed strain ZG0990 was sensitive to some antibacterial agents,such as Penicillin G,Cephalexin V,Nitrofurantoin and others.Clinical trial showed that the streptococcal disease was cured in the fish fed the medicated diets containing 0.1% Penicillin G.
