Abstract: Histopathological, haematological and toxicological effects of malachite green (MG) on various animals, and the biotransformation of malachite green (MG) and its matabolites, leucomalachite green (LMG) were summarized. The recent research advances on determination of malachite green and leueomalachite green were dewed abroad. Alternative disinfectants to malachite green were advised. An approach to remove excess malachite green from treatment water should be explored.
