Wintering of juvenile hard clam (Meretrix meretrix)in indoor concrete ponds

Abstract: Wintering of Meretrix meretrix juveniles was conducted in 30 indoor concrete tanks each with bottom surface area of 22.8 m2 at Shuangliang company,Panshan county from October 2000 to April 2001. Some 4.3808×108 juveniles with initial body length of 0.56 mm to 1.24 mm were stocked into the tanks and reared under the temperature of 4℃,dissolved oxygen of 7 mg/L, salinity of 26,light intensity of 1000 lx in daytime, and water exchange and aerated daily. The animals had survival rate of 82.8% without growth, and feeding during wintering.
