Effects of dietary resveratrol levels on biochemical parameters in liver of blood parrot Amphilophus labiatus ♂× Cichlasoma synspilum ♀

Abstract: A feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary resveratrol levels on biochemical parameters in liver of blood parrot Amphilophus labiatus♂× Cichlasoma synspilum♀ with initial body weight of (11.60±0.80) g at water temperature of (24±1)℃. Fish were reared in 18 blue plastic tanks of each 70 cm × 50 cm × 45 cm and fed diets containing resveratrol at a rate of 0,40,80,120,160,and 200 mg/kg to apparent satiation for 14 days. The results showed that the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and lysozyme (LZM) were found to be significantly increased and malonaldehyde (MDA) content decreased significantly in the fish fed the diet containing resveratrol at 120 mg/kg for 7 d(P<0.05). There were no significant differences in activities of glutamate-pyruvate transaminase (ALT) and glutamate-oxaloacetate transaminase (AST) in the fish fed the diet containing resveratrol at 120 mg/kg for 7 days and 14 days(P>0.05). The significant increase in CAT activity and decrease in MDA level were observed in the fish fed the diets containing resveratrol at 40 and 80 mg/kg for 14 d(P<0.05), without significant increase in activities of ALT,AST and LZM(P>0.05). The findings indicated that resveratrol led to improvement of antioxidant capacity, and reduction in liver injury at the recommended dietary dose of 120 mg/kg for 7 d.
