Abstract: A feeding trial was conducted to investigate effects of dietary achyranthes bidentata polysaccharide (ABP)levels on partial non-specific immunity and lipid metabolism in blood parrot(Cichlasoma citrinellum♂× C.synspilum♀).Blood parrot with body weight of(48.0±3.5)g were fed apparent satiation diets containing fat at rate of 8%and 14%of the basal diet and the high-fat diet supplemented with achyranthes bidentata polysaccharide at a rate of 0,0.05%,0.10%,0.20%and 0.40%for 28 d with triplication to evaluate the feasible use of ABP in aquaculture. The indices of partial non-specific immunity and lipid metabolism were determined in the blood parrot fed the diets 7,4,21,and 28 days after administration. The results showed that,as increase in addition of ABP,activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),and lysozyme(LZM)were increased and levels of malondialdehyde(MDA)was decreased significantly(P<0.05)without significant effect(P>0.05)on activities of lipoprotein lipase(LPL)and fatty acid synthase(FAS)in liver. In serum, however, alanine aminotransferase(ALT)activity and blood glucose(Glu)level were decreased significantly(P<0.05)without significant effect(P>0.05)on aspartate aminotransferase(AST)activity(except for the fish fed the diet containing 0.20%of ABP,and levels of triglyceride(TG),and total cholesterol(CHOL).In summary, dietary ABP)leads to improve antioxidant capacity and lysozyme activity in liver, and to reduce liver injury and has quite obvious fuctions in the diabetic treatment in blood parrot. It is recommended that 0.40%ABP be of the optimal dietary dose with 14 days continuous feeding.
