Abstract: Morphometrical traits including shell length(x1),shell height(x2),shell width(x3),radial rib number (x4)and live body weight(y)were measured and analyzed in 287 individuals randomly sampled from Shandong Muping(M),Shandong Laizhou(L),Dalian Guanglu Island(G),and Dalian Zhangzi Island(Z)populations of two-year-old yesso scallop Patinopecten yessoensis by correlation analysis, path analysis, and multiple regression analysis in order to clarify the correlation among the quantitative traits and the factors influencing body weight of the scallop. The results showed that there were significant correlations among the shell length, shell height, shell width and live body weight, with the correlation coefficient of 0.727-0.988,and very significant level(P<0.01).The path analysis showed that the maximal correlation coefficient was found between the shell height and body weight, 0.526 in Shandong Muping population,0.422 in Shandong Laizhou population,0.485 in Dalian Guanglu Island population, and 0.632 in Dalian Zhangzi Island population. The Zhangzi Island population had the maximal indirect effects of shell length on the body weight, but the other three populations showed the maximal indirect effects of shell width on the body weight, indicating that there were differences in the factors affecting the correlation coefficient among the 4 populations.Using stepwise regression method, the regression equations between body weight traits and other quantitative traits were expressed as at very significant level(P<0.01):yM=-94.540+0.565x1+ 1.491x2+0.968x3,yL=-158.247+0.996x1+1.469x2+0.804x3,yG=-110.501+0.710x1+0.629x2+0.861x3+ 0.321x4,yZ=-187.897+0.397x1+2.064x2+2.556x3+0.118x4.The findings indicates that there exit significant differences in morphology in different populations.
