Abstract: Morphological and histological changes and morphology and histology of the digestive system were observed during starvation in Taimen Hucho taimen larvae by anatomy and paraffin section methods. The larvae were found to show unresponsive, slow swimming, and lower gregariousness, and were characterized by black and thin body, big head and shrunken liver after starvation. There was slow development of the digestive tract, and dysfunctional histological structure in the starved larvae which had the shrunken, even being disrupted, mucous layer in the esophagus. The structure of the gastric gland was destroyed severely with reticulate and porous stomach muscle fiber. In the intestines, mucous membrane was damaged, while the villi became irregular and the cellular mucipara appearing to be rupture.Parts of the intestines were shrunken and ruptured.Hepatic tissue in the starved larvae became porous with damaged cellular cord and unclear cellar boundary. And the nucleoli were shrunken or rupture in the hepatic cells. It can be concluded that in the larvae of Taimen, the liver is an important organ of energy storage while the height of the rugae in stomach and intestines could be good indicators of nutritional condition. The survival feeding time and the best feeding time for the larvae was 0-12 d and 0-8 d,respectively.
