Separation,purification and antitumor activity assay of a polysaccharide from shell thorns of sea urchin Hemicentrotus pulcherrimus

Abstract: The Sulfated-Polysaccharide XB-1 was prepared from shell thorns of sea urchin Hemicentrous pulcherrimus by degreased,water boiled,concentrated,removed protein and nucleic acid,decolored,and precipitation by ethanol.The homogeneous XB-1 was estimated to have the molecular weight of 1.9×105 by HPLC.The polysaccharide XB-1 was found to be composed of fucose and sulfate by GC of the hydrolyzate and Sulfate-Determination.The optimum conditions of polysaccharide extract were defined by an orthogonal experiment.The Sulfated-Polysaccharide XB-1 could restrain the proliferation of A549,MCF-7,and Hela cell in vitro in the sea urchin.
