Abstract: The flowing field of artificial reefs was studied in single cube artificial reefs with monomer cut-opening ratio of 0,0.04,0.16,and 0.25 at three different incoming velocities of 67, 112,and 180 mm/s by PIV (particle image velocimetry) two-dimensional flow field measurements and water channel physical investigation. The results showed that the opening ratio and the incoming flowing velocities showed an influence on the flowing field of the single cube artificial reefs, with the more incoming flowing velocities at the less opening ratio in the artificial reefs and the higher upwelling average velocity at the larger areas of reverse vortex, indicating that the major factor influencing upwelling average velocity and area of reverse vortex was the opening ratio of the artificial reefs, followed by the incoming flowing velocity.
