Abstract: The combined inhibition effects of peracetic acid and isothiazolone on alga Tribonema sp. bloom and acute toxicity of both chemicals to Pacific white leg shrimp Litopenaeusvannamei with body weight of (0.043 5±0.000 8)g and (2.576 8±0.024 0) g were studied by a static method to search a safe, environmental friend and efficient algae inhibiting products. The results showed that synergistic alga-removal effects of both peracetic acid and isothiazolone were observed, the best at proportion of peracetic acid to isothiazolone=5∶3,with the alga Tribonema sp. bloom inhibition rate of 97.40% and the synergistic index of 0.14 in 96 h. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase(CAT)re were shown to be elevated first and then declined, and the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) to be increased in the alga exposed to the drugs. The safe concentration was found to be the ratio peracetic acid to isothiazolone=0.21 mg/L∶0.12 mg/L for the Pacific white leg shrimp post larvae and 1.17 mg/L∶0.70 mg/L for the juveniles. The findings indicate that peracetic acid and isothiazolone are applied in Pacific white leg shrimp culture ponds with causation even though they have good inhibitory effect on Tribonema bloom.
