The zoobenthos community structures,ground fish production and ecological assessment for water quality in Tanghe Reservoir and Dahuofang Reservoir

Abstract: The zoobenthos community structures were surveyed in Tanghe Reservoir and Dahuofang Reservoir from 2010 to 2011.Fifteen zoobentho species in 7 families and 3 phyla were found in Tanghe Reservoir with average density of 224.61 ind./m2,average biomass of 4.69 g/m2,and predominant species Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri and Limnodrilus claparedianus.Nineteen zoobentho species in 6 families and 3 phyla were observed in Dahuofang Reservoir with average density of 235.77 ind./m2,average biomass of 101.56 g/m2,and predominant species Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri,Limnodrilus claparedianus and Branchiura sowerbyi.There was a very significantly positive correlation between zoobenthos density and available phosphorus levels and BOD5in Tanghe Reservoir(P<0.01). The very significantly positive correlation was found between the zoobenthos density and BOD5(P<0.01)and negative significant correlation with water temperature(P<0.05)in Dahuofang Reservoir.The potential fishery productivity of ground fishes was estimated at 11.59 kg/(hm2·a)in Tanghe Reservoir,namely totally 20 800 kg in the reservoir.The potential annual fishery productivity of ground fishes was found at 32.11 kg/(hm2·a)in Dahuofang Reservoir,namely totally 171 000 kg in the reservoir.
