Abstract: The albacore Thunnus alalunga longline fishery is one of the important fisheries in South Pacific Ocean. According to collected catch data of the albacore, sea surface temperature (SST) derived from satellite 3 -level production and literatures, the distribution of longline albacore and its relationship with SST were analysised quantitatively or qualitatively by using GIS technology. The results showed that the distribution of longline albacore fishing -grounds was latitudinal zones, and mainly located the area of bilateral of 10°S and 25 -30°S. The average SST and median SST of albacore longline fishing - grounds was 25.8 ℃ and 27.0 ℃, additionally, average SST of most fishing grounds was 22 - 29 ℃. The distribution shape of SST was negative skew and the distribution shape of catch was positive skew. Variation of average CPUE and average yields was similar, the highest when the SST was about 17 - 18 ℃. Distribution of total catch was two crest at different SST and the peak appeared when SST were 20 ℃ and 29 ℃. The individual of fishing was different at higher SST area ( 〉 24 ℃ ) and lower SST area ( 〈 24 ℃ ), and the individual was large in higher temperature area than in lower temperature. There was a correlation between CPUE of albacore and MEI by time series analysis.
