Abstract: The effect of salinity and hardness in raw water and regenerant by blending and adjusting on softening ability of cation exchange resin Na type 001×7 was investigated to evaluate the feasibility of seawater as regenerant. The results showed that softening and regenerability were found to be affected significantly by higher salinity,showing that seawater is not used as regenerant directly,whose mechanism was discussed.It is hoped that the study can provide reference on design and run of softening and desalting in practice.
