Abstract: The dynamics of heterotrophic bacteria and ammonification in biofilms on submerged biofilters were determined using microbiological methods. The results showed that the numbers of heterotrophic bacteria declined from 10~(7)-10~(8)CFU/g to 10~(5)-10~(6) CFU/g with the formation of biofilm. After maturation of biofilm, the ammonification rates of both zeolite and non-woven cloth carriers averaged 17.45 μg/(cm~(3)·h); 26 (μg/(g·h)) and 17.41 μg/(cm~(3)·h); 59.9 μg/(g·h)within 24 h.
