Abstract: A total of 450 individuals of bulatmai barbel Barbus capito with body weight of(98.92±2.25)g were randomly allocated into a circulating water system and fed diets containing Achyranthes bidentata extracts(ABE)at a rate of 0%(a control group),0.05%,0.10%,0.20%,and 0.40%at water temperature of(25±1)℃ for 60 d to investigate effects of ABE on growth performance, partial non-specific immunity and disease resistance of bulatmai barbel. The results showed that significantly higher body weight, weight gain ratio(WGR)and specific growth rate(SGR)were found in the fish fed the diets containing 0.2%of ABE,and that significantly higher head kidney-somatic index and spleen-somatic index were observed in the fish fed the diets containing 0.1%of ABE(p<0.05).There were significantly higher activities of acid phosphatase(ACP)and lysozyme(LZM)in the fish fed the diets containing 0.20%and 0.40%of ABE than in fish fed the control diet(p<0.05).A challenge test of bulatmai barbel by pathogen Aeromonas hydrophila revealed that the maximal survival rate was observed in the infected fish fed the diet containing 0.20%of ABE.The findings indicate that ABE leads to significantly promote growth performance, partial non-specific immunity and disease resistance of bulatmai barbell, with appropriate ABE content of 0.20%.
