Abstract: The effects of temperature and salinity on oxygen consumption rate and asphyxia point were studied in copepod Eurytemora affinis in a laboratory.Within the experimental temperature, the individual oxygen consumption rate and specific oxygen consumption rate of the copepod were found to be increased with the increasing temperature, the individual oxygen consumption rate and specific oxygen consumption rate showing a slow increase as the temperature being increased from 5℃to 25℃.When the temperature was rose from 25℃to 33℃,however, the individual oxygen consumption rate and specific oxygen consumption rate were showed sharp increment. The regression equations were expressed as y=0.1354e0.0573x(R2=0.9582)for individual oxygen consumption rate and y=0.7746e0.0574x(R2=0.9584)for specific oxygen consumption rate. The asphyxia point was found to be ranged from(0.96±0.04)mg/L to(3.94±0.17)mg/L within 5-33℃.During the salinity experiments, the oxygen consumption rate and specific oxygen consumption rate were increased at a salinity of 5-15,and decreased at a salinity of 15-35.The linear regression equation of salinity and oxygen consumption rate and specific oxygen consumption rate were described as y=-0.0003x2+0.0061x+0.4549(R2=0.9047)and y=-0.002x2+0.0352 x+2.6059 (R2=0.9047),respectively.The asphyxia point was varied from(0.46±0.05)mg/L to(0.98±0.03)mg/L,at a salinity of 5-40.
