Abstract: The individual fecundity of culter Culter alburnus in Dianshan Lake was studied to understand the variation in population structure and resource protection of culter, and to provide the basic data for ecological restoration and rational utilization of natural fish stocks in Dianshan Lake. The results showed that the culter began to spawn at age from 3 to 6 years old, and had average individual absolute fecundity of 134 901 eggs, ranging from 22 764 to 737 760 eggs, and the individual relative fecundity of 3157 eggs/cm in body length, ranging from 820 to 13 982 eggs/cm, and relative fecundity of 234 eggs/g in body weight, ranging from 104 to 554 eggs/g.The individual absolute fecundity and individual relative fecundity in body length was exponentially correlated with body length and body weight, and the relative fecundity in body weight was correlated with only gonado-somatic index(SGI)and ovary weight.Multi-regressive analyses revealed that the individual absolute fecundity was positively correlative with body length, ovary weight, SGI and gutted body weight, that the individual relative fecundity of body length was positive correlative to ovary weight, gutted body weight and condition factor, that the individual relative fecundity in body length was negatively correlated to age,and that the relative fecundity in body weight was positively correlated to SGI,and negatively correlated to ovary weight.
