The influence of spore concentration, attachment gradient and turbidity of sea water on attachment density of spores in sea mustard Undaria pinnatif'uta

Abstract: The influence of spore concentration, attachment gradient and turbidity of sea water on attachment density of spores in sea mustard Undaria pinnatifida was studied in laboratory. The results showed that the attachment density of the spores increased with the enhancement of the concentration with a positive correlation, but decreased by the enhancement of the gradient and the turbidity of sea water with a negative correlation. When the concentration of the spores ranged from 3 250 per mL to 29 250 per mL, the relationship between attached density(y1 ) and the concentration of spores(x1 ) was expressed as y1 = 724e^0. 00008x1 (R = 0. 978 ). When the attachment gradient varied from 0° to 90°, the relationship between attachment density(y2) and attachment gradient (x2) was expressed as y2 = - 0. 7507x2 + 97.447 (R^2 = 0. 9866).
