Abstract: Sea cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus) with body length of 15 -20 cm were collected from Longwangtang offshore in Dalian coast, relaxed in seawater containing 0.54 mol/L MgSO4 for 30 minutes, and then transversally cut at the 1/3 anterior, 1/3 posterior and 1/2 body length. The cut sea cucumber were reared in natural sea water and the regeneration of the alimentary canal, and body wall was observed by a morphological method. The resuits showed that the sea cucumber started to shrink in the wound 1 hour after cut. Some sea cucumber eviscerated the rest of the viscera from the cut body walls. The cut body walls were healed up 6 days after the animals were cut. The cut sea cucumber eviscerated regenerated new alimentary canal on the 20th day after cut and had an integrity animal which functioned as feeding and excreting about 100 days after cut.
