Preparation and fatty acid compositions of squid liver oil

Abstract: Fish oil was extracted and refined from squid liver. Its physicochemical property and fatty acid compositions were determined by GC/MS. The results showed that refined fish oil is yellow, transparent with light fishlike smell and under the SC/T3502 -2000. There was 36.5% of total polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) in the refined fish oil, in which the contents of eicosapentenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexenoic acid (DHA) was 13.1% and 20.3%, respectively.
