Abstract: A feeding-trial was conducted to study the effects of soybean protein isolate(SPI) on hepatopancreas weight and intestinal proteinase activity of juvenile Jian carp (Cyprinus carpio Var. Jian) with body weight of 10-35 g. The dietary SPI level had significant effects on hepatopancreas weight, hepatopancreas index (HI), trypsin and chymotrypsin activity in hepatopancreas and intestine(P〈0.05 or P〈0.01). The proteinase activity significantly decreased with the dietary SPI levels increasing (P〈0.01), while HI increased with increase in the dietary SPI levels (P〈0.05). The dietary SPI levels enable the fish low digestible ability. The trypsin inhibition factor in SPI was one of the factors which lead to abnormal development of hepatopancreas, low trypsin and chymotrypsin, and inhibition of trypsin and chymotrypsin activity.
