Abstract: The measurements of fracture characteristics of polyethylene twine indicate that the fracture strength increases, while fracture elongation reduces along with the increase of pulling speed, and both of them are related to the change of pulling speed in magnitude and the thickness of twine.Dry or wet state of twine has an impact on fracture strength, and higher fracture strength can be obtained in the wet state. Some loss in fracture strength of overhand knot has been found. The magnitude of losing ratio is related to the thickness of twine, rather than the dry or wet state.
