Abstract: The hatching rate and survival were compared between wild and transgenic white cloud mountain minnowTanichthysalbonubesexpressing red fluorescent protein exposed to different pH values (3.5 to 5.5, and 8.5 to 10.5) for 24 h, 48 h, 72 h, and 96 h and the survival activity index (SAI) of the hatched larvae was measured at different pH values from 4.5 to 9.5. The results showed that the wild white cloud mountain minnow had slightly higher hatching rate than the transgenic ones, with suitable pH from 5.0 to 8.5. There was slightly higher 96 h survival rate in the transgenic larvae than in the wild larvae while the newly hatched wild larvae showed higher SAI than the transgenic larvae. It was found that both larvae had pH tolerance of 5.0 to 9.0, without significant difference, indicating that there are no significant differences in pH tolerance between the transgenic and wild white cloud mountain minnow.
