Abstract: China has abundant by-products of fishery products processing and low-value aquatic resources including fish, shrimp, shellfish, and algae in which the protein is an important raw material for the preparation of bioactive peptides. This article summarizes the methods of enzymatic hydrolysis, purification and mass spectrometry identification of bioactive peptides from fishery proteins base on the related researches in recent years. Different bioactive peptides are functionally classified, into antioxidant peptides, antimicrobial peptides, antihypertensive peptides, anticancer/antitumor peptides, immunomodulatory peptides, and mineral ion-chelating peptides. The molecular mechanism of bioactive peptides was discussed from the structure of peptides including molecular weight and amino acid composition, and the application prospect of aquatic bioactive peptides and the further research were proposed.
