Abstract: Ecological characteristics of pelagic larvae of sea cucumber (\%Apostichopus japonicus\%) were observed by drawing phytoplankton nets in coastal area of Changhai Island, the natural spawning ground in northern Yellow Sea from 1997 to 1998. The sea cucumber larvae occurred from 15 July to 31 September with peak (70 inviduals/m\+3) on early August. The pelagic larvae were distributed within 3 meters, and preferred attachment on palm cord and polyethylene nets to shells and adhesive tapes, mediate for net and wavy plates. Lanterns for scallop and mussel culture are also be used as a material for attachment of sea cucumber larvae in large scale production.
