Abstract: Species composition of fouling organisms on mariculture cages were studied by suspanding plans and sampling of whole mariculture cages at Dalijia seawater hatchery in Dalian from June, 1995 to June, 1996. 82 species of animals were recorded. The dominant species were Tubularia marina, Caprella scaaura, Caprella equilibra, Hydroides ezoensis, Styela clava, Botryllus schlosseri, Balanus amphite amphite, Mytilus galloprovincialis. Attachment of the fouling organisms occured predominantly during July, Augest and September. On the net plans monthly maximum biomass of these fouling organisms was 5780.6 g/m 2 (wet weight) and monthly maximum surface covered by these fouling organisms was 100%; On the plastic plans monthly maximum biomass of the fouling organisms was 2285.4 g/m 2 (wet weight) and maximum covered surface reached 40.3%. The wet weights of the fouling organisms on mariculture cages were higher during September, 1995 to March, 1996 than those during March, 1995 to September, 1995. The fouling organisms on nets of the cages was found to be 5908.1 g/m 2 and 90% surface covered, while on the plastic plans in the cages 1958.4 g/m 2 and 85% surface covered occurred.
