Abstract: Optical characteristics of domestic green light LED with power 300 W was measured by Hyperspectral profiler II,and compared to domestic metal halide lamp with power 1 kW.Spectrum of metal halide lamp was found to cover visible light band and part of ultraviolet light and infrared light.Radiant energy of LED was concentrated on green light band(490-560 nm)without ultraviolet light. The attenuation coeffcient of light was found to be 0.2494 for metal halide lamp and 0.2527 for LED.The depth at 0.01 lx was 85 m as total power of LED was 9 kW(30×300 W),and it was 50 m by 62 kW(62×1 kW)metal halide lamp. The green light LED not only had rays being penetrated into deep water, leading to save energy efficiently, but also had less harm to the eyes and skin of the crew.
