Abstract: In this paper, the principal factors, characteristics and design process of ＂Qinhai＂ and ＂Minhai＂, two small coastal automobiles/passengers Ro- Ro ships, are introduced. Then a more comprehensive and objective evaluation is done to all the performances of the two ships so as to produce and accumulate the experiences according to the surveys to these sister ships in the period of running and the feedback opinions arising from the users of the ships. The use of the design in the same kind of vessels as above ships is discussed.
