Abstract: Compositions of fatty acids and other nutrients were determined in gonads of sea urchin hybrids F1 ( Strongylocentrotus intermedius ♀× S. nudus♂ ) and their parents by a capillary gas chromatography column. The F1 had significant higher fatty acid levels than their parents. The difference in contents of fatty acids between the F1 collected from Ltishun waters and their parents collected from Zhangzi Island was primarily due to geological locations. There were significantly higher contents of essential fatty acids and other nutrients in F1 than those in their parents.
