Abstract: The effects of operating parameters on running stability of A Clextral BC-45 twin screw extruder were analyzed using the response surface methodology. The four operating parameters chosen were the barrel temperature in the last zone, screw speed, solid feed rate and water feed rate, and each of them had five different levels. The running pressure was used as the objective function, and a regression fitting equation was established. The results of the study show that all the chosen parameters, except solid feed rate, influenced the renning stability of the system. The correlation coefficient of the regression fitting R2=0.80, shows the statistical model has certain credibility.
