Abstract: The average phytoplankton biomasses in 9 freshwater rotifer ponds and 6 brackish water ponds were 117 8 mg/L and 156 5 mg/L respectively in the prophase of the peak of rotifer, and 39 0 mg/L and 82 3 mg/L during the peak of rotifer biomass,i e 1/3~1/2 of the phytoplankton biomasses Microalges such as \%Chlorella, Chroomonas\% and \%Cyclotella\% were dominant in the prophase, however, flagellate such as \%Chlamydomonas\% and \%Platymonas\% and so on and filmentous populations such as \%Chaetoceros, Spirulina\% and \%Oscillatoria\% were dominant in the period of the peak The average zooplankton biomasses were 66 0 \{mg/L\} and 115 7 mg/L in freshwater and brackish water ponds, respectively. For zooplankton, rotifera \%Brachionus Calyciflorus\% (Pallas) \%B Urceus linnaeus\% and \%B Plicatilis muller\% were of importance components, their biomasses comprising 82 9% and 84 3% in the total zooplankton biomass, respectively In the prophase, variety index of phytoplankton was 1 27 in the freshwater ponds and 1 52 in the brackish water ponds. During the peak, hoiwever, it was 2 67 and 3 04, respectively. The variety indexes of zooplankton were 1 66 and 0 84 in the freshwater ponds and in the brackish water ponds, respectively. Properties of the plankton species composition and biomass in the rotifer ponds and the feed supply capacity of phytoplankton and rotifera were discussed
