Abstract: In order to explore individual fecundity and body length and age at first maturity of striped shiner (Pungtungiaherzi) in Yalu River, 398 individuals including 210 females and 188 males were seasonally collected in Dandong section of Yalu River by traps and drift gillnets from November 2020 to April 2022. The body length (L), body weight (W), net body weight (W0) and ovarian weight (W1) were measured, and the gonado-somatic index (GSI) and condition factor (K) were calculated. Absolute fecundity (F), relative fecundity of body length (FL) and relative fecundity of body weight (FW) were counted by weight method. Five mathematical models were used to fit the relationship between individual fecundity and morphological indices, and the age at first maturity was determined by L50%’s method. The results showed that the striped shiner population in Dandong section of Yalu River was primarily composed of 1, 2, 3 and 4 years old individuals. with 70.74% of 1 year old males, 22.87% of 2 years old males, 5.85% of 3 years old males and 0.53% of 4 years old males (n=188), and the females accounted for 71.75% of 1 year old individuals, 19.77% of the 2 years old individuals, 6.78% of 3 years old individuals and 1.69% of 4 years old individuals(n=210). The female and male had dominant body length from 60.01 mm to 90.00 mm, and the dominant body weight from 0.00 g to 15.00 g. The striped shiner had average individual absolute fecundity (F) of (1 835.00±946.66) eggs, average individual relative fecundity (FL) of (23.13±9.43)eggs/mm and the average individual relative fecundity (FW) of (199.84±61.26)eggs/g. The relationships between F, FL and FW and body length, body weight, net weight, and age was expressed as function and the first maturity was estimated to be 47.07 mm in body length at age of 1.18 years for males and 53.28 mm in body length at age of 1.06 years for females. The findings indicate that the striped shiner is characterized by small size, dominantly composed of 1-year-old individuals, early maturity, large fecundity, and r reproductive strategy.
