Abstract: The health and sustainable development of shellfish aquaculture is involved in harvesting of burying shellfishes (e.g. clam and razor clam) by advanced and ecological harvesting technology and equipments. In recent years, with the advancement of aquaculture technology, the scale of buried shellfish aquaculture has been expanding, but the backward harvesting equipment has become a major factor restricting the further development of shellfish aquaculture in China. In this paper, the burying shellfish harvesters is classified in domestic and foreign based on the working principle, and the structure and performance characteristics of various types of burying shellfish harvesters are systematically described. The research progress and application status of the harvesters, problems in theoretical research, structural design, intelligent control and ecological impact of harvesters are discussed in China. The corresponding countermeasures are proposed to provide reference with the development of burying shellfish harvesting technology and equipments.
