Abstract: The activated Aeromonasveronii were inoculated at bacteial culture of 1×107 CFU/mL viable count in LB broth medium supplemented with distilled water (control group), 4 mmol/L L-lactic acid, 0.05 g/L nisin, and 4 mmol/L L-lactic acid + nisin (0.005, 0.01 and 0.05 g/L) groups. The turbidimetric method, growth curve parameter analysis, viable count, electrodynamic potential, and scanning electron microscope observation were used to determine the effects of nisin, lactic acid and nisin combined with lactic acid on the growth, survival, motility, biofilm formation, changes in cell structure, and damage to membrane function of Aeromonasveronii. The results showed that synergistic inhibitory effect against Aeromonasveronii was found in the media containing 4 mmol/L lactic acid and nisin (0.01, 0.05 g/L), significant extend of the lagtime and reduce in the maximum growth rate of the bacteria. There were synergistic lethal effects against Aeromonasveronii in the media containing 4 mmol/L lactic acid and 0.05 g/L nisin. The effectively limited motility of Aeromonasveronii and inhibition of the formation of biofilm were found in the media with nisin combined with lactic acid nisin. Nisin led to reduce the membrane electrodynamic potential of lactic acid-treated cells in 6 min treatment; severe deformation of the plasma membrane and the formation of outer membrane vesicles were induced in the combined treatments of nisin and lactic acid. The findings proved that lactic acid and nisin had strongly synergistical inhibitory activation against Aeromonasveronii.
